It’s the eve of Get Wet: Aqua de la Vida! at the ArtBox. Claire Vassort came to help install her beautiful silk pieces. The outdoor fountain is attracting local wildlife. Perhaps the wine & beer offerings tomorrow will also attract local wildlife. The performers, Jimmy Everett & Rick Gattone, have been informed they are competing with ZZ Top at Riverbend. This is clearly a case of “been there…have the T-Shirt.”

I saw ZZ Top many lifetimes ago in So. Florida at the worse concert venue known to man. I can’t remember the name of the place except it was in the Everglades somewhere in the hinterlands of Broward County, Florida. To get there you had to drive for hours, park in the middle of nowhere, walk for miles, go through a search, then finally walk-in to the acoustically-impaired metal building and be slammed by a wall of pot smoke so thick it made you wonder what the search was all about in the first place. There was no need to bring any pot; simple breathing would accomplish a high. I can’t remember (!) the opening act but I do remember ZZ Top because they had guitars that spun around their navels and live cattle on stage.

There was a second sighting of ZZ Top during a previous marriage. Cruising down the expressway through downtown Atlanta, we were passed by a T-top Camero with 2 guys. Their very long beards were blowing in the wind and a large cooler was safely nestled between the seats. I imaged the cooler’s content was cold and alcoholic. “Catch up with them!” I said, but my x-husband’s sad Volaire was not up to the task and we were left in the dust. They were wearing cool sunglasses, too.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s opening. Christie O’Grady’s painting are beautiful and breath new life into the ArtBox. I hope the good energy flows and friends gather to enjoy it. Maybe the ZZ Top guys will show up. Third time’s the charm!
